Project Description
The design-build Alpha and Bravo Wharf Improvements project upgraded the existing wharves, constructed utilities and support facilities, and dredged the Inner Apra Harbor entrance channel and turning basin to allow the berthing of SSGN (Ohio class) submarines at Polaris Point. The project was constructed in two phases starting with the Bravo Wharf, including back-of-wharf utilities and support facilities, and then proceeding to Alpha Wharf in order to keep one wharf operational for the Navy’s use at all times.
Bravo Wharf was turned over to the Navy early on November 30, 2007, along with its associated utilities and support facilities, which also serve Alpha Wharf. Alpha Wharf itself was turned over on May 16, 2008, two months before CCD.
